The design of this Silver Filigree cover is inspired by a 1697 French binding of Johann Arndt's Paradiesgartlein. To achieve the gilded and polished motif, a base layer of silver sheets was first die cut, and elaborate grooves were ten meticulously etched into its surface. Combining the Latin words filum (thread) and granum (seed), "filigree" describes an art form that is a testament to the human drive to ornament.
